Meeting with Outgoing MSD Attache

A meeting with Puan “Aunty” Rose who is the outgoing Malaysian Student Department (MSD) of the Malaysian High Commission was held on Saturday afternoon, 31 May, 2008 at the Managament School. The meeting was well attended by Malaysian undergraduates, postgraduates and their families. After a serving of high tea, Puan Rose briefed the students on the latest information from the High Commission and listened to complaints and feedback regarding our studies and stay here in New Zealand. She also emphasized that students should register with the MSD upon arrival in NZ to avoid any problems later on.

We are interested to learn that many of our students actually use the services of the MSD. We suggest we publicise whatever advice and help given by MSD, not only to give good publicity to MSD but also to help other students who have similar problems. We also hope that the MSD will be more actively involved with the students in Hamilton although we understand that Wellington is far away.
